Congratulating our November Members of the Month, Leon Robert and Amanda Sayre

Warriors, join us in congratulating our November Members of the Month, Leon Robert and Amanda Sayre! We asked them to share a little bit about their time here at Mighty Warrior and we hope you enjoy their answers as much as we did!

What’s been your proudest moment at Mighty Warrior?

Leon: Doing a pull up without a band during the Open

Amanda: Completing my first unassisted pull-up! Someone encouraged me to try to do one at the end of class one day and I was so excited to be able to do it.

What’s your favorite workout?

Leon: None! Ok, maybe stretching. lol

Amanda: Any workout that involves doing a shoulder to overhead. Or getting to snatch…I love to snatch!

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?

Leon: Just commit to 3 6am workouts, after you will be hooked.

Amanda: I’ll be honest that I was hesitant at first too. I can be intimidated by new environments and wasn’t sure that I would be any good at it. However, joining CrossFit has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. For those who may be hesitant, I would say to just come check it out and give it a fair shot. The community and support are amazing, and every movement can be modified or scaled to meet you where you are at.

What’s a fun fact about you that most Warriors might not know?

Leon: When I was 9 I found a pair of handcuffs in and abandoned house in Detroit and yada yada

yada I spent a whole day with my ankles handcuffed together and had to go to the police department to get them off.

Amanda: For the past 10 or so years I’ve taught color guard at a few high schools throughout the state of Michigan.

What’s the next goal you’re looking to achieve?

Leon: Toes to bar.

Amanda: I would like to continue to improve every day and become more comfortable with the movements and workouts that challenge me. Specifically, I would like to be able to start stringing some toes to bar together and be able to do more than one double under.
